Release 7.2 of SPEDI PoS is now available, with the major new feature that it will both accept payments and give change in Euros.
The transaction still runs in Sterling, with all prices and variations (such as discounts and offers) calculated only in Sterling. If, however, the "Euro" option is selected, then the equivalent amount in Euros is displayed when the transaction total is shown, using a conversion rate previously set by the store using a password protected routine. Payment may then be made in Euros, which have been set up as a payment type. Optionally, the value of the change due may also be shown in Euros, but in this case the cashier must then indicate whether the change is to be given in Euros or Sterling.
All the entries in the Z reading are shown and reconciled in Sterling. However, additional entries show the expected number of Euros in the drawer.
We have also included a number of minor enhancements.
We recommend that this version is installed only in those stores which expect to trade in Euros, such as those in Northern Ireland or in major tourist destinations.
In the first screen below, the cashier has completed processing the customer's purchases and has pressed the "PAY" button. SPEDI PoS is now displaying the "Amount Due" screen, ready for the cashier to select one of the preset tenders or to key the actual amount tendered.by the customer. Note that the cashier may select either Sterling or Euro currency for this tender.

In the next screen, the customer has now handed over £8.00 in Sterling and SPEDI PoS has automatically calculated the "Change Due" . Notice that it is displaying the change due to the customer both in Sterling and in Euros and that SPEDI PoS is waiting for the cashier to select the appropriate currency before proceeding.
