SPEDI Exchange

If you have built your business up to include a number of stores then SPEDI Exchange provides an easy way to centralise the administration of the product file, prices, and special offers.

The central site uses SPEDI Maintain to communicate with suppliers and to build a price file and promotion file. This central site may be a store which uses SPEDI Maintain to manage its own transactions, or it may be an administrative office. SPEDI Exchange then takes the product and promotion files each day and sends them to the other stores in the group.

At the other stores, the program recognises that this is central data not information from a supplier, and the data is used to update the store files directly. However, price changes are not implemented until shelf edge labels have been printed. As part of the data exchange, financial data is collected from the stores so that consolidated accounts and comparison programs can be run at the centre. Generally, each store suggests its own orders and places these directly with the supplier, or through the central system.

Of course, real life is never as simple as this, so there is flexibility built in to SPEDI Exchange. For example, a pricing strategy for different types of store can be set up, and for some products store pricing may be allowed. Similarly, the promotion program can have variations for groups of stores.

Other functions are available to help management of the group including:

  • Stock transfers
  • Various forms of data collection and analysis
  • Monitoring of store orders
  • and more
